Now the new year has begun, there is plenty to look forward to in the new year with tv and media.
Over the Christmas break, we've had Microsoft push out a major update to the Xbox and Kinect platform, now that has been completed they are starting to roll out various applications to enable various elements of functionality including iplayer / 4od to complement Sky and Lovefilm.
2012 also brings to an end analogue TV, starting all the way back with BBC1 in 1936, 75 years later the final analogue tv transmitter is due to be switch off. With this it will complete the digital switchover, enabling most of the country to pick up digital tv signals and a wider selection of channels. This is scheduled to happen at various times over the country but if you are not ready for it now... it really is the time to make sure you are ready.
More access to media on the move with streaming services on mobile devices, as a nation we are making a lot more use of streaming and catch up tv services now - this will only grow as our tv watching habits change. The important question here, is are the service providers ready to cope with the increases in demand?
Is 3D going to become more mainstream this year? with the price of bigger 3d ready tv's falling all the time, this year could be the year for 3d to take over your living room.
