Review
Rom-com favourite Sandra Bullock and the affably charming Ryan Reynolds’s superb chemistry turn The Proposal from otherwise standard romantic-comedy fare to one that is entertaining and sure to garner laughs. Margaret (Sandra Bullock) is a workaholic, tyrannical book editor (reminiscent of The Devil Wears Prada) who suddenly finds her career in jeopardy as she faces deportation back to Canada. Her solution is to simply fake an engagement to her unsuspecting assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds), who in turn blackmails her for a promotion. However, when Margaret is forced to head to Alaska with Andrew to visit his family in an effort to make their story believable to the deportation officers, they soon realise that their plan may not be so simple after all. The supporting cast of Dad (Craig T. Nelson), Mum (Mary Steenburgen), and kooky Grandma (Betty White, still a scene-stealer at 87) is great casting that makes for many amusing scenes. Bottom line: witty Reynolds and Bullock are perfect sparring partners for each other and not half bad to look at either. --Lisanne Chastain

brilliant!!
This movie had me in fits of laughter! It's a must see film, with great actors :-)Sandra bullock is awesome in this film.. It's better than I expected!! :D
Excellent Film - very funny and entertaining!
This is a excellent feel good film. I originally saw it in cinema and loved it so much so I bought the DVD. Nice short film that does not drag on too much at all. Very entertaining and a great romantic comedy to watch. Sandra is great as always in playing the role of a very demanding boss and Ryan is a very entertaining employee with a eccentric family and very lovely to watch for the eye candy!Would definately recommend to watch it if you want a short film with lots of entertainment and funny scenes.
Good one for the rom-com fans!
Very funny, although some parts seemed to be very much "filler", others were very well thought out and written. Bullock and Reynolds play their parts well, and his grandma is classic! Lovely happy ending, as with all rom-coms and some of it is "Meet the Parents" laugh out loud.

`The Proposal' is a genuinely funny rom-com starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. This follows Margaret, a hard nosed publishing editor, who is about to be deported when her visa expires and Andrew, her assistant who she blackmails into marrying her so she can stay in the country and keep her job. They then go to meet his family in Alaska and the real fun begins. Bullock shows yet again what a hilarious physical comedian she is and Reynolds has superb dead pan line delivery and this film had me laughing out loud at various points throughout. The chemistry between Bullock and Reynolds is obvious from the word go and they are a wonderful couple together on screen. This also has stellar performances from Mary Steenburgen and Betty White who play the mother and grandmother and who welcome Margaret into the family whole heartedly. This is a gentle film and doesn't sink to crass or overtly rude jokes to raise a laugh, instead it has real warmth and genuine humour and makes for just under two hours fun viewing. The extras include the obligatory commentaries and a funny outtakes reel which shows the fun had on set during filming. All in all this is a funny and heart warming film, one of the better rom-coms I have seen and is well worth checking out.
